cheeves.info is a personal project operated from the United Kingdom. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

Age Requirements

cheeves.info requires users to be at least 13 years old. Since authentication is provided exclusively through Steam, which has its own age requirement of 13+, this is enforced by Steam's registration process.

Data We Collect

Account Data (via Steam)

When you log in using Steam OpenID, we receive and store:

  • Your Steam ID (a unique numeric identifier)
  • Your Steam display name
  • Your Steam avatar URL

We do not receive or store your Steam password, email address, or any payment information from Steam. Authentication is handled entirely by Steam's OpenID system.

Gaming Data

When you sync your profile, we fetch the following from Steam's public API:

  • Your owned games list
  • Playtime and last played dates
  • Achievement unlock status and timestamps

This data is only synced when you manually request it. We do not automatically monitor or update your Steam profile.

Subscription Data

If you subscribe to cheeves.info Pro, payment processing is handled entirely by PayPal. We store:

  • Your PayPal subscription ID
  • Subscription status and billing dates
  • Plan type (monthly or annual)

We do not receive or store your PayPal email, payment method details, or billing address. For information on how PayPal handles your data, see PayPal's Privacy Statement.

Feedback Submissions

If you submit feedback via our support page, we collect:

  • Your email address
  • Your message content
  • Your IP address (for rate limiting)

Cookies and Local Storage

Essential Cookies

We use the following cookies which are necessary for the site to function:

  • session_id - Maintains your login session
  • session_updated - Used for cache validation

These cookies are set when you log in and are essential for authentication. They cannot be disabled while using the site.

Local Storage

Profile Visibility

By default, your cheeves.info profile is publicly visible after your first sync. Anyone with your Steam ID can view your profile page. You can set your profile to hidden in your account settings if you prefer privacy.

Data Retention

We retain your data indefinitely until you request deletion. Achievement history and gaming statistics are preserved to maintain your progress over time. If you unsubscribe from Pro, your subscription data is retained for billing records but your Pro features are deactivated.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access - Request a copy of your personal data
  • Rectification - Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Erasure - Request deletion of your data
  • Portability - Request your data in a portable format
  • Object - Object to processing of your data

Data Deletion

To delete your account and all associated data, submit a request through our support page with the subject "Account Issue". Upon verification, we will delete your account, gaming data, and any stored preferences. Note that PayPal retains its own records of transactions in accordance with their policies.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through a notice on the site. The "last updated" date at the top indicates when this policy was last revised.
